Village Amenities
Village Hall
Situated in the middle of the village the hall is regularly used by local groups including Pilates, Men’s Keep Fit, Yoga and Tong Bie together with events for the WI, Crafters, First Responders and Coffee Mornings.
In the past it has hosted celebrations for the VE Day, the late Queen’s Platinum and Jubilee and a free cream tea to celebrate the coronation of King Charles III.
At weekends, parties can be booked with access to the recently refurbished kitchen. Bookings can be made with Barbara Dawes on 01455 202551.
Playground
A childrens’ playground is conveniently situated in the centre of the village down a quiet cul-de-sac away from the main road. The play equipment was totally replaced with brand new in 2022 and includes a climbing frame, log walk, swings amongst others. New pathways were also added in 2022 to make the picnic areas easier to access for disabled visitors and those with pushchairs.
Village Green
A peaceful area suited on the corner of Frolesworth Road and Main Road with a large grassed area, trees and benches maintained by the Parish Council. It has a beautiful tree in the middle which is glorious when covered with blossom in the spring, and also at Christmas when festooned with fairy lights.
Footpaths
As the village is set in a rural location, there are a number of footpaths surrounding the village ideal for ramblers and dog walkers.
Litter Picking
We like to keep our village tidy and free from rubbish so an annual litter pick is organised by the Parish Council and all are welcome to help.
There are also some “Wombles” who voluntarily regularly litter-pick the village. This Group is supported by Leicestershire County Council.
Volunteers
The Parish Council often have jobs that they need help with like weeding the playground area or odd painting jobs. If you are interested please contact the Parish Clerk.
